Goosebumps Movie: Review

Genre: Action/Adventure/Comedy

Running time: 1hr 45mins

Synopsis: A teenager teams up with the daughter of young adult horror author R. L. Stine after the writer’s imaginary demons are set free on the town of Madison, Delaware.

I was looking forward to seeing this film for weeks! I went to watch the unlimited screening yesterday, and it was in 3D. Unfortunately for the film, the 3D wasn’t working at the start of the film; which hurt my eyes haha.

The start of the film was quite slow, and didn’t kick in until around half way through. It was great seeing all the original goosebumps monsters; bringing back childhood memories.

The storyline wasn’t predictable, and I was quite impressed with the imagination put into it.
Id recommend for adults and children, as it’s suitable for both. I’d also give it 8/10 stars.

Room: Review

Synopsis: Room (2015) tells the extraordinary story of Jack, a spirited 5-year-old who is looked after by his loving and devoted mother. Ma dedicates herself to keeping Jack happy and safe. Their life, however, is anything but typical–they are trapped–confined to a windowless, 10-by-10-foot space that Ma named Room. Ma has created a whole universe for Jack within Room, and she will stop at nothing to ensure that, even in this treacherous environment, Jack is able to live a complete and fulfilling life. But as Jack’s curiosity about their situation grows, they enact a risky plan to escape, ultimately bringing them face-to-face with what may turn out to be the scariest thing yet: the real world.
Running time: 118 minutes
Genre: Drama
Director: Lenny Abrahamson

Room isn’t like any film I’ve seen before. It’s not a horror or thriller, but something special. The genre is hard to Identify, Because it tells a magical, heartfelt story.

The film shows how a strong young woman has brought up her son, in a 10X10 box room after being captivated at 17 by ‘old nick’. Her son Jack doesn’t know any other world (litrally). She makes the brave decision to hatch a plan for them to escape.

(Kind of spoiler)
In many emotional scenes, which did make me and my friends cry. You see Jack escape and his mum to follow, for Jack it’s hard because he thought and saw room as his home. But eventually he comes to love the world.

I recommend this 100%. It’s a beautiful film and really gives you something to think about. 10/10 stars!

Creed: Movie review

Genre: Drama/sport
Running time: 2 hour 13 minutes
Director: Ryan Coogler
Release date: 25 Nov 2015
Synopsis: Adonis Johnson is the son of the famous boxing champion Apollo Creed, who died in a boxing match in Rocky IV (1985). Adonis wasn’t born until after his father’s death and wants to follow his fathers footsteps in boxing. He seeks a mentor who is the former heavyweight boxing champion and former friend of Apollo Creed, the retired Rocky Balboa. Rocky eventually agrees to mentor Adonis. With Rocky’s help they hope to get a title job to face even deadlier opponents than his father.

The first thing I’d like to mention is that whilst I was in the unlimited screening watching Creed, it was an atmosphere I’ve never seen before, and don’t think I’ll ever witness again! The feel and buzz off everyone around was special. Everyone was so in the moment and at the edge of their seats!

Creed was released first in America, and isn’t out in the UK yet, but as a unlimited card holder, I got one of the first UK viewings. Before the film started I was already expecting great things, especially with being a lover of the rocky films.

In all honesty it surpassed my expectations, and blew me away. The way the director created the build up, and how Adonis played his character was truly inspirational. He and rocky made the movie something special. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen.

Hopefully it does down as a fantastic film, like all the rocky films have! I definitely recommend. And I gave 10/10 stars!

Why my reviews are short?

I have been looking back to when I started my reviews, and there soo long! Personally I HATE long winded reviews that babble about unnecessary things.

I decided to shorted them, so people can look quicky for what they’re looking for, without all the jargon. Personally I enjoy reading my short reviews in comparison to the long ones.

Please let me know if you enjoy them short, and I hope you are enjoying my new movie review section.

Happy reading 🙂

The Good Dinosaur: Movie review

Genre: Adventure, Animation, Comedy
Director: Peter Sohn
Release date: 25th November 2015

Synopsis: The Good Dinosaur (2015)
Pixar: “The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? In this epic journey into the world of dinosaurs, an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.

The Good Dinosaur is such a heart felt movie. I definitely advise it to the children, as the target audience is the younger generation.

The beautiful animations really bring out the quality of the film, with plenty of comedy parts to get both adults, and children laughing.

The concept of the film is magical, and also has it’s sad moments; but can do a full 180 degrees and change dynamic straight away.

I definitely recommend and rate this film 7/10 stars.

Rating 3.6/5 (goodreads)

Horrorstor is based on a store similar to ikea, that has some strange happenings over night. The staff are asked to stay over night and experience the full force of the store.

I absolutely adored this book, it left me wanting a sequel! The images which got more sinister throughout helped create the story, and made it amazing.

The whole premise and creation of the novel was superbly done! The characters were charasmatic and benefited the novel greatly.
I LOVE books like this, I find a real escape reading them!

It definitely hasn’t put me off visiting IKEA at night!

I rate this novel 5 stars. And 100% recommend to all readers.

Happy reading 🙂
