New beginnings.

I’m moving away from a book review today, and talking a little about myself and my plans.

Recently I’ve really been getting into writing, and trying to find level grounds on what I’d like to do when I leave college for the 6 week holiday. All that’s stuck in my mind is that, I WANT TO WRITE A BOOK. Yes that’s right. Me. Write a book.

I’ve been writing many draft ideas, and sections to base what I plan to write about in the future, all I’m willing to say is that it’s about a zombie apocalypse, and I bet you’re all thinking “No not more zombie enthusiasts”. But I’m not wanting to take the traditional approach. Both my influences are The perks of being a wallflower and The walking dead.

If I do start to write, I’m hoping to put my work on wattpad, so everyone can go check it out and support me!

Please leave comments to what you think.

Happy reading ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Sounds great! Know what you mean about the plethora of Zombie films/lit out there. I would have suggested a humorous approach such a Simon Pegg’s Shaun of the Dead – but he did that already! Still, it’ll be good see how you get on. I’m also thinking about diving into writing a book and I’m sure the journey will be a long(ish) one! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. The great thing is to start making a start; the rest will follow if you mean to start as you mean to go on. Overcoming that empty page is one enormous step in the right direction. – if you see what I mean beyond the tongue-in-cheek cliches. Anyway, bravo for putting it into words for everyone to read.

  3. Congratulations! As an Indie author, I can only offer this advice, always write because you love to write and because you’re writing something you want to write. When we begin to write what others want, we begin to lose ourselves and despise our work. I wish you the best of luck and I look forward to reading your work. Happy writing ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Just write. Don’t spend time worrying about support or other people’s opinions. They will be your words and ideas, not someone else’s. To paraphrase Christopher Hitchens, write like you are already dead. You won’t care what other people think or say. No matter what and how you write some will love it, some will hate it and most won’t care. I know this to be true. Writing from your heart what you know to be true is the thing.

    Just do it.

  5. This is such a coincidence! I’m also working on a book about a zombie apocalypse but with a major twist on that aspect! I’m thinking of putting up excerpts of my book once a month but I dong know. I really want to see what your book is like! Don’t give up and keep writing! Hope to see some of your work soon.

  6. This is what I think: Absolutely! Live your dream and love what you do! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’d love to read it once you’ve finished. Do you have short stories at the moment? Would love to read them.

  7. I say go for it! One guideline I read that many authors say is “write about what you love!” You can’t go wrong. I wish you all the best. My son is writing an apocalyptic novel as well, but his creatures aren’t zombies. The concept is the same with some twists. I am reading part one now, and it is exciting. He just turned 18 and started this over a year ago. Many blessing to you!

  8. I keep saying I don’t want a zombie apocalypse for my apocalypse!! In my head I also think I don’t want to read about a zombie apocalypse however I have read several fiction books about the apocalypse lately. All were free an Amazon at the time of purchase but they all added a different element to the zombies and some even said they’re not zombies there x,y,z but with a lack of a better term we’ll call them zombies.

Some of the apocalypse books I enjoyed lately are Apocalypticon – Clayton Smith, After: First Light and After: The Shock – Scott Nicholson, Mass Extinction Event: The Complete First Series (Days 1 to 8) – Amy Cross. I can’t remember the others and some did not include zombies.

Many of these authors seemed to do a relatively short book (around 200 pages) not too short otherwise I don’t bother and offer the first in a series for free. Hint hint…

  9. Thanks for the like on my movie review blog! It was actually all the writing I was doing for the blog that inspired me to start writing a book this year as well. Best of luck– I’ll be checking back to see how you progress. ๐Ÿ™‚
